Eugene D'Vaz was born in 1945 in Golden Rock, Tiruchirapalli Dist. He graduated in Mathematics from St. Joseph College, Tiruchi and persued post graduate study in English Literature from the same college.

Painting is an absorbing passion with him. He has been drawing and painting from his early years at school. Many of his paintings were bought by friends in Sydney and Canada.

He has conducted solo exhibitions of his paintings in Tiruchi, Vellore and Chennai where some of his paintings were bought by art lovers.

He follows no perticular style but inclines towards fantasy and surrealistic renderings of reality.

His favourite writers/painters are Tagore, Gibrax, Picasso and Dali. Incidentally, he has has illustrated the 103 lyrics of Tagore's Gitanjali. These illustrations were exhibired in Alliance Francais in Chennai.
